Learn a handful of serpentine, slow movement techniques and combos, then practice combining them into improvised "choreography" to a few songs with silent follow-the-leader play.

This is our bellydance 101 for first-timers! Learn the basic techniques used in bellydance - posture, foot patterns, arm positions, and basic isolations like hip locks, slides, ribcage isolations, snake arms, and a few shimmies!
No experience necessary - all body types welcome! Ages 14+ - wear comfortable exercise style clothing and be prepared to dance barefoot or bring ballet style slippers if you'd prefer!
Once you've gotten a foundation of the basic isolations and postures (4-6 Intro classes), it's time to dig in deeper to technique! In tribal style bellydance, the focus is on isolating parts of the body independently while remaining grounded and earthy in your dance style. In level 1, learn several techniques and piece together basic tribal style combinations to use later in choreographies or group improvisation. Combos include: Basic Egyptian, Ghawazee 1 & 2, Crescent hips, Spanish Box Step, Choo Choo turn, Choo choos, Mya Walk, Ultra Gypsy and Shimmies
Upon completion of Level 1, students move into either 2.1 or 2.1 - both covering intermediate level bellydance techniques and combinations. No need to take 2.1 before 2.2.
2.1 covers the following techniques and combinations: Cabaret Egyptian, Choo choo bump, Arabic 1, 2 and 3, Undulations, 3/4 shimmy, Turkish
2.2 covers Ghawazee 3, reverse undulation, Arabic Scoop turn, paddle spins, Compton walk, camelwalk, tummy twister,
Cardio Raqs! is our version of aerobic-style bellydance workout! We introduce and drill beginner and intermediate techniques and combinations and keep you dancing to upbeat music for the full hour! Burn up to 400 calories an hour in this fun alternative to the gym! No experience needed! Great for all levels to drill and perfect techniques too.
Choreographies are dance routines set to a specific piece of music that students learn over the course of several weeks. Students are welcome to perform choreographies learned in class in our seasonal Student Salons, but performance is never required!
